Imagine putting your tree up the first week of November and still loving it on New Year’s Day. No drying, no crumbling, no mess to sweep. That’s where we’re starting, because once you know this trick, you’ll wonder how you did Christmas any other way.

It comes down to three stems we call the Holy Trinity of Evergreen, and here’s how they change everything:

The three stems that do the heavy lifting. Long Needle Pine, Cedar, and Magnolia. Layer them in that order and even a tired PVC tree with a broken branch or two mismatched lights turns lush, full, and honestly kind of magical.
How to keep every ornament your kids made and still love how the tree looks. You don’t have to choose between the memories and a beautiful tree. The greenery becomes the base, and the macaroni angel gets to be the star.
The one ribbon that pulls it all together. A multicolor plaid ties every mismatched color on that tree into something that finally makes sense. We call it connecting the dots.
Our Rule of 2 or 3, so ribbon stops being scary. Two or three colors, two or three widths, two or three textures. Pair that plaid with a 4-inch black velvet and a 1.5-inch red glitter, and you’ve got a bow with real depth without ever second-guessing it.

Put it up early, walk away, and enjoy it all season, so you get to spend the holidays with your people instead of your to-do list.

MEET JEREMY

For twenty years I have been one of the guys behind the curtain of Christmas. Product design with big companies around the world, chasing the trends and the styles everybody would be craving in their homes long before they knew it, and designing showrooms at the market centers where store owners walk through to find out what the holidays are going to look like. Country Living has run our work. We have worked with Better Homes and Gardens, and plenty of others along the way.

So though we have never met, there is a real chance we are already connected. That shop you love downtown, the one you walk into every November and think “how do they always make it look like that”? Somebody walked its owner through a showroom and sent her home with a lot of inspiration and photos! Chances are we’ve had a hand in a few of those.

We still do all of it. The market, the showrooms, the brands. That work is good work and I do love it. Who wouldn’t love celebrating Christmas over 400 times?!

But that is not where our heart is. Our heart is with a woman standing in her own living room on a Tuesday in December, looking at a tree covered in her kids’ ornaments, wondering where to even start, wishing it felt as magical to her as it does to them. THAT is the whole point. It is why we built HouseFloral.com, and it is why I am here.

Because you should be spending December with your family, not your to-do list. And that’s why we want to share our tricks we’ve learned over the years!
